Where I've been
It’s been a long time since 1.0.0; long enough that a few words feel owed before the release notes.
The gap came down to work, school, and needing a real break, and I’ll leave it at that. To everyone who kept checking in, commenting, and supporting me through the quiet: thank you. I read the kind reviews, notes, and emails over the years, even when I didn’t reply, and they’re a big part of why this mod is back at all.
The break also gave me room to grow as a programmer. I came back better than I left, though I had a lot of catching up to do, and I finally have a real feel for how the game works. Problems I couldn’t crack at 1.0.0, like the mod slowing down world loads, turned out to be fixable once I understood what was actually happening, and the same goes for a good number of crashes and bugs that used to go over my head. Where the old mod ran on fixed numbers you couldn’t touch, the new one has a full in-game settings menu.
Coming back also meant making some honest choices about the mod itself. I cut back the scope for this release to focus on stability first. Some features are set aside for now, mostly so that what ships actually works, and they can return once the foundation is solid. I also went through every piece of text in the mod, the moodlets, the flavor text, all of it, and rewrote what needed rewriting. Some of it was written by a younger me and read like it. Given the subject matter this mod deals with, I felt it deserved much more mature take.
Beyond that, 2.0.0 is close to a new mod: buffs that shape every trimester, auto-using products, sims who can act on their reproductive lives on their own if you allow it, and much more. The full release notes cover everything.
A few practical notes before you download. The current version lives only here and Patreon, so a copy from anywhere else is an older build. My mods are free for everyone, and Patreon is general support, nothing more. And the mod is released as-is: no support line, no feature requests, use at your own discretion. Genuine, well-documented bug reports are the one thing that reaches me, and the release notes explain how to file one.
There’s more I want to do with this mod than fit into 2.0.0, and I think I can actually build it now. This release is the foundation; the rest comes when it’s ready.
